There are so many little tips that can help us become more efficient and better triathletes!  No matter if you’re training for your 1st or 100th, I wanted to dedicate this page to accumulating these tips to share with everyone.   I’m hoping others will help contribute to this list by sending me the tips/lessons you wish you knew before you learned the hard way!

1.  Don’t try anything during a triathlon that you haven’t already tried yet in your training.  You’re just asking for trouble!
2.  Be 100% confident you know where your bike is racked in the transition zone.  You’ll be in a different mindset during T1 & T2 and it’s real easy to forget exactly where you’re located.
3.  Do not worry if other triathletes pass you.  Don’t chase them unless you make your living from triathlon.  Race your own race.
4.  It’s okay to pee in your wetsuit.  No #2’s though!
5.  Try to get up plenty early the morning of your race to… have a small breakfast and a cup of joe.  Try to relax.
6.  Do your best to take your poo before you leave your house/hotel.  Yes you will have to poo and you don’t want to wait in line for a Kybo. Nasty.
7.  If you see the event camera company shooting your picture, make a mean face, flex, and look tough.  Don’t be cute.
8.  If you’re not a strong swimmer, get near the outside and take it easy for the first 2-5 minutes.  It’s hectic and you can easily blow up.
9.  Learning to breath bilateraly can help you sight better, allow you to always face away from waves, and reduce one-sided fatigue.
10.  Interval training WILL make you faster!
11.  A little spit in your goggles will keep them from fogging up.
